A Buyer's Checklist for Schneider Electric Push Buttons, SCADA, and Severe-Duty Parts

I'm an office administrator, not an electrical engineer. My company has about 250 employees across two sites, and I take care of purchasing for maintenance and facilities. That translates to 50-80 orders a year and somewhere around eight active vendors. I took over this role in 2021, and the first thing I learned is that a vague product request creates a much bigger problem than a slow supplier.

The seven checks I run now

1. Write down the physical location and the old part number first.

Before I search a catalog, I ask the maintenance person three questions. Where is it installed? What does it currently do? Is there a nameplate or old part number? 7. Confirm the current data sheet and the real lead time.

I use the manufacturer's public documentation as my last check.
